Pandemic isn't just impacting us physically. It is taking a toll on our mental health too. Idle Brain is really a Devil's Workshop!
All our daily tasks were staged rightly for our usual day. But now, even after so many days of staying indoors, we ain't able to have a sane mind. That's mainly because there is a great amount of free time and honestly, we are too lazy to catch
up on our hobbies.
What do we do instead? We simply sit. But we just are physically sitting. Mentally, our mind is very busy trying to manage all weird and stressful train of thoughts. With this, we start getting anxious and depressed about our lives for no valid reason. And it is getting very difficult for people who already have anxiety and depression. The main culprit is our mind and basic human nature. Let me explain to you how..
Brain
Anytime we are still, our mind starts thinking a lot. It may go 2 years back and start thinking about what we did and how wrong it was. But, do you think we can actually change it? Our mind isn't always positive. It is mostly thinking negatively about how and where we are wrong. Though our mind is the strongest tool we will ever have to make our future bright, it also acts as a source of the problem. A study says that emotional pain lasts only 12 minutes and anything after that is just rethinking it. And who does that? Our brain. It won't let go easily. It puts it on loop until we decide to break it.
Basic Human Nature
We don't usually do anything to do ourselves busy. We just prefer to be lazy in our beds. Because it's so comfortable. When we are physically still, our mind works faster. We don't try to put ourselves in any busy areas. We sometimes try though. We just start something and then back to square one. We don't really stand there continue to keep ourselves occupied because that's not our physical comfort zone. We work only when we are made to work. No, I am not talking about bosses. I am talking about deadlines. Keeping a deadline can help us be busy and stay sane.
Keeping busy is going to make so much difference to our lives and mental health. We should stop just talking about mental health and start acting on it. One of the efficient solutions is to opt for part-time jobs. Its simply because it will push us to
squeeze the whole tasks in half of the day and the rest half will be occupied by the work. This will not only keep us busy but also help us grow professionally.
Each day we manage both work and personal life, we are one step closer to having a happy and calm mind and life.
