Someone has rightfully quoted how “schooling does not assure employment, but skill does”. How true is this saying in real life? Does being from a good college secure your position in a good company? I would say that it might give you an edge over other applicants, but it is not the deciding factor. In my opinion, an individual’s skillset plays a vital role during the shortlisting process for various companies. I have worked with students who had a strong command over their personal and professional skills and have seen them excel in their role, while students having a strong education struggled to keep up with them. Education is a tool that gives you the proper platform to enhance your skills but the effort which is put in depends on the individual. A person who is motivated and driven would eventually find a way to supplement his skills and would not let quality education become a barrier for him.
We at snypjobs preach the aforementioned ideology and support the individual irrespective of their education, as long as they have the right set of qualities. We know that the set of characteristics required for a particular job would change, but
there are a few employability skills we believe are guaranteed to increase your competency for the job.
1. Strong Communication
It goes without saying how important strong communication skills are in the workplace. Being able to share your opinion clearly and concisely would help you make an impact, but would also help you get acknowledged for your efforts.
2. Confidence
Confidence is spelled as C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-C-E, not A-R-R-O-G-A-N-C-E. There is a very thin line between the two and one must have a clear idea about it. Being confident with your peers and yourself highlights your maturity at the workplace.
3. Receptive
As I mentioned earlier, being arrogant is a sin in the workplace. An individual should be open to new ideas and should not hesitate to implement them. Being receptive, not only benefits the person but also increases the efficiency of the company.
4. Leadership
This particular quality is highlighted in most of the resumes a recruiter comes across. One should not restrict himself to the traditional leadership methods but should incorporate new ideas and adopt a more genuine approach to this specific quality.
5. Patience
Lastly, we have a quality that has been taught to us since our childhood, yet we fail to incorporate this at our workplace. Do not storm out of the workplace just because you did not get promoted. Success does not come overnight, one must be patient and grow with time.
