Roles and Responsibilities
Telemedicine is used to denote clinical service delivered by a registered medical practitioner while tele -health is a broader term of use of technology for health and Health related services including telemedicine. The guidelines on telemedicine released on 25th March 2020, by the board of governors, Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Government of India, have provided a framework for the practice of telemedicine.
- Doctors are required to practice telemedicine as per the guidelines and provide adequate health care to the patient
- Doctors are required to give tele-consultation and generate prescription within fifteen minutes of their tele-consult with the patient
- Reporting in accordance to Falck Standards & Procedures, Group Practices.
- Maintain patients medical confidentiality as per Tele-medicine practice and Ensure conformity to all medical guidelines and laws of tele-medicine at any particular moment.
- The professional judgment of the physician is the basis of the decision on whether the mode of consultation can be technology-based or should be an in-person consultation.
- Standard of care should be maintained and the same principles of care are applicable for a tele-medicine consultation.
- Case management and treatment may differ based on the technology used for the consultation.
- Physicians discretion is recommended for choosing suitable technology for consultation, such as, video-consultation, depending on the patients health condition.
- Physician may choose at any time, whether to proceed with the consultation or to halt the consultation.
- Physician may refer the patient to another physician or healthcare worker for an in-person consultation; or may request the patients presence for an in-person consultation.
- The patient has the right to choose whether to proceed with the consultation or to discontinue the tele-consultation.
