Job Description
The Technical Instructional Designer will design, develop, manage, and maintain internal and external eLearning and classroom training. Course topics are highly technical and will range from introductory-level product training to in-depth cybersecurity topics such as malware forensics. Audiences include FireEye customers, employees, and partners.
This position requires a team-focused self-starter who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision. Professionalism and the ability to work within a team are paramount. The successful candidate will also tirelessly seek out the information necessary to complete training tasks.
Responsibilities
- Become conversant and technically literate with FireEye products and services.
- Collaborate with SMEs (including Training Instructors) for determining course content, including needs assessments, task analyses, and course objectives.
- Author high-quality course content based on course objectives. This may include books, storyboards for online courses, scripts for videos, and PowerPoint files with instructor notes for classroom use.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with your peers regarding course development and strategy, including instructional best practices, approaches to hands-on activities, recipes for successful classroom and live-remote deliveries, and the evaluation of course creation and delivery.
- Help review your peers’ work during the editing and quality assurance phases.
- Help define formal certifications and methods for measuring competence.
- Help define and/or refine department standards, procedures, and templates.
- Contribute to other Education Services projects and documents, such as documentation, course data sheets, and cross-organization initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Work samples requested.
- 5+ years of experience creating technical courseware and curricula (ILT and/or eLearning).
- Knowledge of Linux, networking, and the CLI.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Superb oral, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

- Strong project management skills, with the ability to drive projects to conclusion.
- Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate complex technical concepts.
- Ability to quickly understand and assimilate new technologies.
- Demonstrable skill with industry-standard production tools such as Flare, Storyline, and Camtasia.
- Comfortable with Adobe Photoshop.
- Familiarity with HTML and a scripting language.
- Experience with learning management systems.
- Experience with scripting for video.
- Experience with video production.
